Position Summary

Provide service to new and existing clients by placing and processing new personal lines insurance business and retaining renewal personal lines insurance business.

Essential Functions

  1. Perform all account transactions including applications, quotations, ID cards, endorsements, binders, claims, renewals, follow-up and correspondence.
  2. Respond to client inquiries, incoming mail and company requests.
  3. Review new business, renewals and endorsements to insure items are received as ordered.
  4. Use every contact as an opportunity to round the account and review coverages for the insured; successfully communicate those needs.
  5. Work with insureds who wish to cancel in order to retain the business.
  6. Confer and negotiate with company underwriters to save underwriting cancellations and remarket as necessary.
  7. Keep informed of new sales programs.
  8. Sell new personal lines accounts within agency established underwriting guidelines.
  9. Maintain client files on agency management system and use system for processing all transactions.
  10. Participate in educational seminars/classes for improvement of insurance/sales skills.
  11. Maintain knowledge of current underwriting requirements of contracted insurance carriers.
  12. Maintain knowledge of policy provisions and any changes in those provisions.
  13. Perform additional duties as assigned.
  14. Prompt and reliable attendance required.

Work Environment

This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers and fax machines. This job may also work in various clients’ locations, with varying conditions and elements.

Position Requirements


High school diploma or equivalent required. Complete knowledge of personal lines underwriting and rating. Complete knowledge of insurance practices and procedures in the industry and with an agency. Minimum of two years’ experience. Proficient in Microsoft Suite.


Current Producer’s license required.
