About David Layton

David Layton joined the Crane Agency in 1995. Prior to that, he was a senior casualty underwriter with Fireman’s Fund Insurance Companies and worked as a marketer, account manager and producer at a national brokerage and a local agency. He has earned the Associate in Risk Management (ARM) designation from the Insurance Institute of America. He came to Crane where he could better serve clients.

David has a very broad and deep background in insurance. He does not specialize in a single industry other than insurance and risk management. Clients have included manufacturing, not-for-profit, human services, habitation, distribution and retail, and public entities. He has established self-insurance programs and placed reinsurance. His view is that insurance policies, including special endorsements for specific industries, follow the same legal principles and the laws of physics are the same for everything. What’s important is the knowledge of the client’s needs and business. application of a solid risk management strategy and the resources of the Crane Agency.

David enjoys working on his two vintage autos (’66 Triumph TR-4a and ’73 BMW 2002tii), historical research and museums. David is a member of the board of directors for the Gateway Region YMCA and an educational organization, The League of WWI Aviation Historians.
